Bishop Rusty Smart became Lead Pastor in 2012 after faithfully serving as Youth and Associate Pastor. In addition to leading Calvary, he has served on the boards of Abiding Hope Pregnancy Center and the WNC State Youth and Discipleship Department. He currently serves on the State Council and the board of Camp View Point in Whittier, NC. Known for his genuine heart, quick wit, and love for fellowship, Pastor Rusty brings warmth, wisdom, and vision to everything he does. His favorite moments are the ones spent connecting with people—laughing, sharing stories, and growing in faith together. 

Missy is the better half of our Pastoral Team—just ask Rusty, he’ll agree! A gifted middle school math teacher by day, she also leads our Ladies Ministry and serves as our Music Minister. Missy brings heart, talent, and warmth to everything she does—and if there’s a baby around, don’t be surprised if she’s first in line for snuggles!

Vickie West has been leading our children’s ministry since Spring 2021, with a deep love and clear passion for leading children. She’s dedicated to planting God’s Word in young hearts in ways that last a lifetime. Creative, imaginative, and Spirit-filled—Vickie’s heart for the Lord shines through as you get to know her. When she’s not leading our children’s ministry, she also serves the community through her work at Mission Hospital. 

With 28 years of church administrative experience, Sandra Blackwell brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a deep commitment to ministry excellence.
Her love for the Lord, eye for detail, and passion shine through in all she does—whether mentoring others, keeping things organized, or serving with a joyful spirit. 

Brody is a faithful husband and father who oversees our media and sound with excellence. He manages our live stream and is helping us take things to the next level, making sure our tech supports an engaging and distraction-free worship experience. 

A team of trusted leaders who support the vision and mission of the church alongside our pastor. The Church and Pastor’s Council provides prayerful guidance, accountability, and encouragement, helping to ensure that our church remains spiritually healthy, unified, and focused on God's direction.
